Man Takes Gas Money, Then Assaults Rescuer
After walking a considerable distance to take him gas money, a Lawrenceburg woman reports that her friend repaid the kindness by assaulting her.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies report speaking with the twenty-eight-year old at the emergency room of Crockett Hospital shortly after 9:00 p.m. Sunday, after she sought medical treatment for her injuries.
She told officers that she had received a call around 3:30 that morning from the twenty-four-year-old acquaintance during which he indicated he had run out of gasoline and was stranded at Crossroads Market.
The victim told the man she would bring him gas money, then left her home on foot, walking to the market. After she arrived at the market, she said they began to argue. The confrontation quickly turned physical.
Deputies note that the woman had sustained marks beneath both eyes where he had attempted to “gouge her eyes out.” She told deputies that he had grabbed her arm as well, twisted it, then grabbed her by the neck.
The victim’s mother had picked her up at the market. She later made her way to the hospital.
According to reports, the victim was unable to give a written statement due to injuries she had sustained to her right arm.
At the time reports were filed no charges had yet been filed. The matter remains under continued investigation.
